The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is an internationally recognised certification for organic fibres and textile processing. It provides a framework for the certification of qualifying textile products and supply chains, from raw fibre through to the finished textile product.
Our GOTS-certified collections reflect our long-standing interest in fibre provenance, traceability and exceptional craftsmanship.

UNDERSTANDING GOTS CERTIFICATION
GOTS certification applies to qualifying textile products and verifies compliance with the requirements of the standard throughout the supply chain.
The certification process includes requirements relating to the handling, processing and manufacturing of certified organic fibres. All certified suppliers involved in the production chain are independently assessed and can be identified through the GOTS certification system.
For de Le Cuona, GOTS certification supports transparency and traceability across qualifying collections, from fibre sourcing through to the finished product.
Jamie Page from The Cancer Prevention and Education Society says:
“These are just the sort of measures that responsible and health aware companies in the interior textiles industry can take to help people reduce their exposure to hazardous chemicals as well as using materials sourced in an environmentally friendly way. We very much support these types of initiatives.”

TRACEABILITY AND CERTIFICATION
Traceability is an important element of the GOTS framework.
Each stage within a certified supply chain is assessed against the requirements of the standard, helping to provide clear documentation relating to the origin and processing of certified organic fibres.
This allows qualifying textile products to be traced through the production process from raw fibre to finished fabric.

ORGANIC LINEN AND ORGANIC COTTON
Organic linen and organic cotton each possess distinctive characteristics and performance qualities.
Linen is valued for its texture, durability, breathability and timeless appeal, while cotton is appreciated for its softness and versatility. Both fibres are widely used across the textile industry and can be certified to GOTS when produced in accordance with the requirements of the standard.
The choice between linen and cotton ultimately depends on the desired appearance, handle and performance characteristics of the finished fabric.
